And you thought we had this all settled when they gave Illya Bryzgalov 9 years a $51 million! So far, it has been Philadelphia Flyers backup Sergei Bobrovsky who has had the better numbers and the one that has been more consistent. Bryz has had a 6 and a 7 game unbeaten streak, but in his other games he has gotten shelled. He has looked shaky and uncomfortable all season. Just this week he came out and said how horrible he is playing and isn’t sure what to do to get out of his funk…….that wouldn’t be so bad except it was the SECOND time he came out and said the same thing this season. With just over 8 ½ years left on his contract, lets hope that he can get it turned around quickly and consistently.
I honestly wonder if it's 24/7. Obviously he's been a big part of the show and hasn't shied away from the attention. Remember at the beginning of the season when he was struggling, there were some rumblings about the increased media attention affecting his concentration and his game. The Flyers even tried to limit media access to Bryzgalov. Soon after, he found his way out of the woods and started playing better. I wonder if after the 24/7 cameras go away he will again rediscover his game.
