Obviously, the greatest award any Philadelphia Flyer could earn this year would be the Conn Smythe trophy for playoff MVP. Granted, it doesn’t guarantee that the Flyers will win the cup, but it puts the odds in our favor! If Matt Read stays hot for the rest of the season, he has a very good shot at winning the Calder Trophy for rookie of the year. That would mean that the 2nd and 3rd lines are contributing and taking some of the pressure off of the Giroux line. Speaking of Giroux, he has a very legitimate shot at the Art Ross and Hart Trophy’s as long as he stays healthy. He is currently leading the NHL in scoring, and is playing on one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference. Those two factors together could give him the advantage at the end of the season. It is something to look forward to as the 2012 calendar year gets started.
